Slowly making progress...

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 2, 2007, 9:51 AM
Every once in a while, I manage to find the time and inspiration to write.

I'm currently working on...

-A very dark, disturbing (and quite possibly disgusting) revamping of Beauty and the Beast. This one looks like it could turn out to be really good. I have a lot planned out for character development and I have a very different ending in mind.

-A short story about a failed musician who, one night, looks to the sky and asks it to be his muse. Strange things begin to happen. (I'm not sure if this one's going anywhere)

-A short story based off of the Emperor song "I am the Black Wizards" (also not sure if this is going anywhere)

-"Champion of the Gods Above" (working title) - This one's a bit complicated. Hmm, well, it's a novel about one chosen by the 'gods above' to keep them in control of their world. Whenever the gods above are in control evolution continues...slowly. If the 'gods below' somehow take over, human kind will devolve...also slowly. The gods above wish for mankind to achieve divinity through reaching the end of the evolution cycle. The gods below wish for man to become feral beast so that they can continue feasting on their souls. I know this kind of sounds stupid being summarized like this, but I think this one is looking out to be pretty interesting. It's also got a story within a story going on in it.

-Two short stories that are loosely related. The first one "Life without Death" is about a man who seeks to achieve immortality in the fashion of Elizabeth Bathory (bizarre sexual rituals, torture, murder, and of course, bathing in blood). The second "Death without Dying" is about a woman who has no will to live and wishes to die, but she is strongly Christian and believes suicide is not an option. She seeks ways to ascend to heaven the same way the Biblical characters Enoch and Elijah did. Both of these will require some research on my part.

-And, of course, there's still Refuge in Homh!

I'd be curious to hear which of these intrigue you.

I know the feeling. I'm new here, but getting folks to read, and more importantly, COMMENT on my stuff is a major shlep. I think that the problem lies in the fact that it's prose. Unlike the graphic art, you can't just look at it and move on. It takes time and effort to read and appreciate good (or bad ;)) prose. People are lazy that way.

Greetings! We got off to a bad start, you and I... I grovel for forgiveness *grovels for forgiveness*

I've read the first few of your "Refuge in Homh" pieces. Very impressive. Good prose, good imagery, good detail in your world. I'd like to watch you, if you don't mind.
